100% Vegan Cosmetics and Beauty at MUA
In 2019, MUA Makeup Academy made the commitment to become a 100% vegan beauty brand. So what exactly does that mean and why did we do it?!
What is the difference between Vegan and Cruelty Free?
First things first, lets clear something up. Being cruelty free and vegan are two separate things. Luckily for you all of MUA Makeup is both! Cruelty Free means that neither the finished product nor any of the ingredients used to make it have been tested on animals. Vegan means that no animal derivative or by-products have been used in the making of the item.
Why Did MUA Become a Vegan Beauty Brand?
Why did we want to remove these ingredients? Well there are a couple of reasons. We at MUA strive for complete inclusivity and to cater for all - with veganism now on the rise we knew it was time to take action. That being said, you don’t have to be vegan to love our items – in fact 62% of our customers questioned in a recent survey* buy vegan beauty despite not following a strict vegan lifestyle. 49% of people questioned cited environmental impact being the main driver of their decision to buy vegan beauty. The production of animal derived ingredients has a huge impact on the global climate and making simple changes in our formulas means we can help combat this.
Lastly with so many of us also opting for cruelty free cosmetics in our beauty regimes, naturally we should insist on our products being vegan too. Buying vegan-friendly beauty is just another way we can ensure that no animals have been harmed at the expense of our products!
